Cajun + Bowling

Went to a new restaurant in Leesburg tonight: The Cajun Experience. They have a small menu, but the prices were reasonable and the food was yummy and special.

Why special? Because when we went bowling afterwards, I got 220 + 176 + 225 = 621 series! Best series ever!!!

And tomorrow, Anthrocon!

The bigger the menu, the harder it is to keep quality high and prices low.

There's a very good Proper Posh Restaurant With Reservations And Things in my town; their a la carte menu has around twenty items on it, the lunch menu has eight.

Being a picky eater, the smaller the menu the less likely I am to enjoy it, but this place had several items that pushed my buttons. The chicken & sausage gumbo was simple, but tasty. X's blackened chicken salad was also just right. We'll have to try the red beans & rice on a future visit.

It's quite possible to .. er .. unpicky yourself. You just have some of the best whatever-it-is-you-don't-normally-eat around a few times. I mean, not everyone's ever going to like liver and kidneys, but it works for most things.

I highly recommend Jeffrey Steingarten's "The Man Who Ate Everything", it's a good read and touches on many topics besides this. As for Steingarten, he decided he couldn't be a proper restaurant critic if he didn't eat everything, so he set out on a mission to learn to like feta cheese, sardines, etc. I think the only things he didn't manage were insects and Indian desserts.
