Eye thingy, part whatever

So, opthamologist appt today...

Good news: What I had two weeks ago is classic visual migraine. Nothing to worry about.

Bad news: Thinning retinal wall, risk of future retinal detachment. Slight bulge in left eye indicating either corneal erosion or Grave's Disease. Must see PCP for thyroid checkup. Must return in 6 months for followup. Must schedule annual exams.

...poop.

I only follow some of that, but it all sounds pretty scary. That sucks, bro.

It sounds worse than it is, none of it is imminent. The retinal wall is minor and occurs in 6-10% of all eye patients, with only 1 in 10,000 actually getting it in the end.

The bulge was very minor. If it's corneal erosion, we know the cause (been waking up with dry eyes and abrading the cornea every so often). If it's Grave's, it can be handled with thyroid medication.

The impending bad part is just more doctor's visits. :P

That's good on the first part. On the second part, if there's no change, no worries, right? Eyes are weird and they can have benign conditions which can make even experts think there's a problem.

My eyes are very different from each other, and something showed up on the conventional test which made the optometrist think I had glaucoma, but when she had me come back and tested with the laser machine, everything checks out and is within the range they should be with both eyes considering my age.

One of mine has a nice wad of nerves right at the center like it should be, while the other is very sparse. But it's the healthier one which seems to have a dead spot - go figure. She says everything she sees I was probably born with and not anything that happened later.
